By Insight by Oppy
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the gruesome murder of retired Brigadier General Uwen Harold Udokwere. The former senior military officer was assassinated in his Lokogoma residence on June 22, 2024.
Acting on intelligence, the police's elite Scorpion Squad apprehended two prime suspects—18-year-old Alkasim Mohammed and 22-year-old Suleiman Abdullahi—during a tactical operation in Durumi Phase 2, Abuja.
Authorities recovered a Beretta pistol (Breach No. 58866) along with 11 rounds of live 9mm ammunition. The suspects have since confessed to being part of a notorious criminal syndicate responsible for a series of violent crimes across the FCT.
Shocking Revelations from Police Interrogation
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to:
✅ The murder of Brig. Gen. Udokwere, whom they ambushed inside his home after scaling his fence.
✅ The March 7, 2024 killing of Alhaji Auwal Abdullahi, a Bureau De Change operator at Rita Lori Hotel, Garki.
✅ The robbery of a POS operator, Mercy Alo, in Jabi, where they stole ₦700,000 and shot a customer, Daniel Inalegwu, in the thigh.
Further intelligence suggests that the gang has been involved in multiple home invasions, carjackings, and kidnappings across Abuja and neighboring states.
Police Vow to Crush Criminal Syndicate
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that efforts are underway to track down other members of the gang and recover hidden weapons.
"This arrest marks a major step in dismantling a deadly criminal network terrorizing Abuja. We are closing in on the remaining members and intensifying operations to rid the city of violent crime," a top police source disclosed.
The suspects remain in police custody and will be prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
