EQUITY, FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE IN KWARA STATE.

Image
AKOGUN IYIOLA OYEDEPO Equity, fairness and justice are triplets from the same womb and were born on the same day and time. When properly dissected, they mean the same thing and equally point to the same direction, mainly in the management of human affairs. The words are easy to pronounce, they sooth the ears and they carry positivity in different organizations. Whether they are easy to practice or not, is another subject-matter. The observance and non-observance of equity, fairness and justice in Kwara State, will be the focus of this write-up. Equity is when there is even handedness in relationships, especially in cases that are similar. Impartiality, also means equity. Therefore, when you call it fairness and justice, one is describing the same situation. On the other hands, fairness also means impartiality or behavior that is devoid of favoritism. The third of the three words, Justice, means maintenance or existence of proper balance, fair deal. When human or...

KWARANS MUST PAY FOR THEIR FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY

Image
By AKOGUN IYIOLA OYEDEPO Twenty-six years of democracy should now be due for review, examination and analysis. An adult of twenty-six, that lives on milk instead of solid food must have had stunted growth, his gory sight will not be appealing. What makes organization, community or nations great, is leadership. Slavery is of different brands and categories, but it means loss of freedom. There is mental slavery, loss of freedom of a prisoner, poverty induced incarceration, etc. If the socio/economic development of Kwara State is sluggish and at big variance with abundant opportunities in human and material resources available in the state; then many people have thus been arrested and there is certainly loss of freedom and prosperity by Kwara and the people of the state. There is no royal way to the development and prosperity of a state. Economic development in Kwara state in the years of democracy, especially in the making of leaders cannot be obtained on the platter of gold....

THURSDAY, 12TH JUNE 2025 Protocol: With profound honour, I stand before this joint session of our National Assembly; a parliament that embodies the will of the Nigerian people. 2. Today, as I entered this grand edifice built from the sweat and toil of our democratic yearning, my heart stirred. It was a blend of accomplishment and resolve. 3. I felt a sense of collective accomplishment when I realised how far we had come as a nation. With every footstep I took through these hallowed halls up to the moment I now stand before you, I remembered that we still have much further to go. 5. To achieve this progress, we sought an elective office to lead this nation forward. Thus, I hereby affirm before our Merciful and Almighty God and all men my resolve to do all that I can to safeguard and build our democra...

South-east contributed a mere ₦28.37 billion but astonishingly received ₦104.50 billion – a 368% return. North-east contributed ₦30.04 billion and got back ₦124.20 billion, a 345% gain. North-west put in ₦68.05 billion and was allocated ₦176.74 billion, representing 260% of it...
