Combating Drug Trafficking in Northern Nigeria: NDLEA Seizes 537kg of Drugs, Arrests 46 in Yobe State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking and abuse in Yobe State. Operatives of the agency seized 537 kilograms of illicit drugs during recent operations and arrested 46 suspects in connection with the seizures.

The substances confiscated include cannabis sativa, psychotropic substances, and other illicit drugs that were intended for distribution within and beyond the state. According to NDLEA officials, the arrests and seizures were the result of intelligence-driven operations carried out across several locations in Yobe State.

The NDLEA spokesperson emphasized the agency's commitment to combating drug-related crimes and safeguarding communities from the dangers of substance abuse. He also reiterated the need for public cooperation in providing actionable information to curb the drug menace.

This development highlights the ongoing efforts of the NDLEA in tackling drug-related challenges across Nigeria, especially in states like Yobe, which have been identified as critical transit routes for drug trafficking.
